Meet Hayes
During my teens, I was troubled – and a professor of mine helped point me toward a healing path. This has motivated me to help others needing guidance.
As a psychotherapist, I believe that psychotherapy can relieve you from burdens of thoughts, emotions, or your past. Suffering can be moved beyond or placed in its rightful small slot in our lives.
My bachelor’s degree is from California State University, Chico, and I attended Bellevue College near Seattle, where I took classes in Substance Abuse Counseling.I chose to help troubled teens, because I felt a kindred spirit with them, thus allowing me to relate to them and hopefully them to me.
Unfortunately, I was sometimes not able to help them, and this was frustrating. I decided that more training was required. In 2003, I earned my M.A. in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Counseling from Bastyr University in Seattle. After completing my supervised hours in Arizona, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2005. I followed this advancement in 2017 by receiving training in EMDR, which I continue to use in my practice.
What have I learned?
Along the way, I learned how to move beyond my own suffering and put it in a small slot. I also found meditation and mindfulness, both of which have been a foundation of my personal journey.
A mentor turned me on to a men’s group for personal growth, and I discovered a passion to assist other men move beyond their suffering.
On a personal note
Thanks to my father, I love the outdoors. When I am hiking and mountain biking, I find tranquility and flow.
